そぞろ Sozoro Collection

The Sozoro Collection is an art project by artist, TAKAYUKI YOKOYAMA.

Sozoro（漫ろ） is a Japanese term that describes the emotions we experience without reason.The same kanji in sozoro is also in the word for manga（漫画）, the popular Japanese art form. Manga literally translates to “whimsical pictures”— an apt description of Hokusai Katsushika’s collection of sketches, “Hokusai Manga.”

The Sozoro Collection is about continually creating work in the limited peaceful time available. It is not bound by any ideology or message. Instead, Yokoyama created these pieces in a manner that can be described as sozoro; out of all the things he had seen or imagined, he simply depicted whatever he felt like depicting.

Yokoyama created all works in this collection—which include homages to art pioneers—using all kinds of methods, both analog and digital. He will release them as Non-Fungible Media.

Yokoyama will create his digital work in 16:9 or 1:1 aspect ratio in consideration of the fact that they will be viewed on screens.
Originally, art was the gate to each of our “meta” spaces. Today, it continues to serve as a gate by decorating all kinds of space, whether real or virtual.

漫ろ（そぞろ）とは「これといった理由もなく、心が動いてゆくさま」を意味します。
日本を代表するカルチャーのひとつ「漫画」という言葉も、かつて葛飾北斎が描いた「北斎漫画」がそうであったように、「事物をとりとめもなく気の向くまま漫ろに描いた画」から由来しています。
「SozoroCollection」では限りある平和な時間を制作に当て続けられることを逆説として、イデオロギーやメッセージとはある種無縁の、森羅万象や通り過ぎる思考の中から描きたいと思うものをただ「そぞろ」に描いた作品を発表していきます。

先駆者へのオマージュ作品を含む本コレクション作品はその制作過程においてアナログとデジタルを行き来し、多くの独自の手法を用いて制作され複製不可な媒体にアウトプットされます。

デジタル作品のフォーマットはディスプレイでの装飾を考慮し16:9または1:1で作られます。
元来、アートには我々がそれぞれ持つMETA空間への入口としての側面があり、
それが現実、仮想、いかなる場所であっても装飾することでその扉としての役割を果たします。
